They always say they're going to get back to me and never do. I called today and they said they probably would not be hiring for the next two years. She said it was because business was slow. This would be ideal for me as I know people in the community and I could walk right across the street to work. I also can bring much business to her salon which she says is so slow. I told her I could create my own following. It's still a no. I feel discriminated against. So, I was looking around.After being rejected by Tam again, I poked my head into Maria's one day to ask if they cut men's hair. A sweet angel with flowing tresses took me by the hand and made me look like a million bucks. She gave me an up to date style that has gotten me dozens of compliments from the ladies and some men ,too. So, I hesitate to give you my barber's name because I want her all to myself, it's Debbie Matlak. She did me a favor, now i'm doing one for her. She is easy on the eyes, wears the most interesting jewelry and can tell some interesting stories. If you are a guy looking for first class treatment, this is the place for you. They check you in, check your temp and give you a smock. My stylist wasn’t in at the moment, so had to wait an additional 20 min prior to being taken care of. Things happen, so I brushed it off. The salon is very spa like, very relaxing environment which I loved. I was shampoo’d then my hair was cut and styled, my hair was styled with mousse and for my hair type, mousse just doesn’t work, but I knew I’d end up going home and styling it myself again as this has been my experience most times when I go to a salon and receive a curly cut. Once I went home and styled it, I loved the shape of my cut, so I was generally satisfied. I attempted to schedule an appt in April for color services which resulted in a lot of back and forth phone calls between myself and the receptionist to confirm all the details of my appt, to ultimately result in me being told there was actually no available appt at all. Weird. Fast forward to my most recent appt, booked a curly cut/flat twist/hydration treatment. I get to the bowl after waiting 30 min and am asked if it’s ok to blow dry my hair straight, for a curly cut?? Fast forward my hair is blow dried, then cut, mind you the first time I received a “curly” cut by this stylist it was done wet, guess she wanted to save time. I ended up being charged way more than expected for this simple blow dry. Went home and the next day remove my flat twist and realized she had placed rubber bands in the middle of each flat twist, which were a nightmare to take off. I wish she would have asked me first. I think if you’re a “straight” natural this salon is for you. If you’re requesting your hair to be styled in its natural state good luck, does not seem to be their niche, atleast at the greenbelt location. Most of the natural hair women at this salon I noticed were receiving silk press treatments and I guess that’s for a reason. If you going to recommend someone explain there background or refer to the owner someone who specializes in natural hair care. My hair does not need a lot of heat after it blown out, but she still tried to apply more to it. The administrative staff not so good as communication was minimal. I won't be going back. Once I stepped out to purchase the hair at a nearby beauty supply store walking distance from the salon the stylist E, didn't tell me that the fee for my requested style would be $200, which was disappointing and unexpected. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with the late information of pricing and my time being waisted having to wait 30 minutes only to be told that I needed to buy my own hair. The manager, Angie, and Tamika are great and very professional but their staff is not and they just apologize for it. They don't give clear estimates of how much the style will cost if you ask. They may be playing totally inappropriate music and shows (so I'd never bring children). I had booked the appointment for my mom to cheer her up after our family suffered a loss. So, why did I tell this stylist I wanted to change my hairstyle? Red flag. Long story short, the hair at my temples on both sides was cut so short I couldn't pull it back in a ponytail. I didn't notice the error at first because my hair was curled. I did go back to the Greenbelt location to confront the stylist, Kiana in a nice way. She kept staring at her phone and swore she did not chop up my hair. That was January 2023. My life was turned upside down over a 5 month period. Once the dust settled, I contacted Hair Cuttery again. I finally spoke with a manager who said she can't help me because too much time had past. For some reason I just couldn't let this problem go. I traveled to Greenbelt and saw the manager at the front desk. She again said too much time past so she can't do anything for me. As I tried to explain my hardship, she started counting money. She was ignoring me. I only went there so she could see in person how chopped up my hair was even after all this time. I'm not looking for a free hairdo. I want them to acknowledge what they did and do something about Kiana's attitude and lack of skill. Submitting this post is helping me put this ordeal behind me. I had finally decided to get control of my hair and take care of it. I had worked really hard on my hair growth and it was finally growing and healthy. The first time I went, the lady recommended a product and booked me an appt 8 weeks later, which I thought would be with her. When I arrived and it wasn’t with her, I was disappointed but didn’t really care since I figured I was only getting a trim and anyone could do that. I asked for a TRIM that lady said “so like 1.5 inches?” I said “no! Just a very little bit of the dead ends... I was just here 8 weeks ago.” She cut off at least 3 inches of my hair and did an awful job at that. You can see in pictures, it looks awful and there’s like an inch of hair dangling that they missed. I literally sat in my car and cried after lol. I looked like lord farquaad from shrek. Please see pictures for the embarrassment. NEVER returning to any of these places again. Do yourselves a favor and do NOT go!
