I came into my appointment 30 minutes late because of a scheduling issue, and was told that i’d change hairdressers from Lily (i think) to Greg. I was a bit nervous because i have lots of anxiety when it comes to my hair, but I sat down with him and his laid back personality and chill vibe helped me relax! I had dark brown box dye and a couple brassy bleached chunky highlights I did myself (never again haha) and told him i wanted to go blonde. I knew that wasn’t possible and he was able to take me to a warm bronde (full highlights) with light blonde from where my hair was bleached before. I loved that he took the time to care about keeping my curls healthy and opted for full highlights instead of the more damaging option I wanted at first. This man took me with absolutely no notice AND stayed 2 hours AFTER the shop closed when everyone left for the day just to finish my hair. Greg was absolutely wonderful and I had an amazing experience with him. So easy to talk to and VERY talented at his job. He got my hair lifted lighter than I could imagine was possible and it’s still so healthy and beautiful. Thank you SO much Greg,you made my confidence come back:)So nice to have such a great experience with such a humble person. The price I paid for a cut and blow dry was $95, whereas the online quote stated $90, which was disappointingWhat disappointed me further was i felt extremely rushed. The entire process, from start to finish, took only 35 minutes. When I visit my regular hairdresser, it usually takes at least an hour and a half for a wash, cut, blow dry, and style, and they charge only $70. Comparing these experiences, I can only give this salon two stars.There was one aspect of the service that I did enjoy, and that was the thorough hair washing and conditioning with a nice short massage. It was a pleasant experience. However, when it came to cutting my hair, the stylist took only about three minutes, and the blow drying was done sloppily in just 10 minutes. There was little to no conversation throughout, and I found the stylist to be somewhat rough while handling my hair during the blow drying process.While the haircut itself is not terrible and will do for now, it falls short of my expectations for a $95 service. I was told we would need to lift and tone my hair but after that second client got there she completely rushed my hair and skipped the toning and gave me a half done drying .Once I left the salon my hair was Orange Red ! I called immediately and asked for this to be resolved & they said to come in the next day . I come in and min fixing my hair she gets another client again and starts going back and forth . I get this may be a norm in this space but again half a** my hair for the second time and also Again left me without my hair styled .I went to the front and asked for my hair to be complete . He gave my sad damaged hair the TLC it needed, trimmed off most of the damage while maintaining my length, and even helped give me tips on how to manage and style my thick Latina hair with it's natural curls and waves. He even said he'll help teach me different ways to embrace and style my hair with each visit.My whole life, every stylist I've gone to has commented on how much hair I have. How thick it is, how dense it is, and the sheer quantity of hairs on my head. They also *always* resort to thinning my hair to make it "more manageable". Since Raul is Latino as well, he loves and understands my hair unlike any other stylist I've tried. I only got a trim today, and will be going back for a color refresh next week, but I'm looking forward to a new long lasting relationship with a wonderful stylist!Before - Sad ponytail with crispy ends.After - Trimmed and styled with my natural wavy hair.Update: I've been continuously coming to see Raul since this review, and he makes me feel like a queen every time. I’d only been to one salon before and that stylist did not give me what I wanted, she thought my request would not be flattering on me and flat out refused to cut it shorter. But not Melanie, she worked with me to get it exactly how I wanted and it looks/feels so good. I’m in love with my cut and can’t wait to go back to her for some fun colors! I should have known after she offered to curl my hair for me. this was my hair two days later. I had replied back to the email they sent out , regarding my hair appointment and i told them I was not happy and I would like a refund. I called the next day and asked for a refund on the haircut and they told me if I could come back and allow the stylist a second chance on my hair . I kindly said no and they told me it would take 2 weeks to get in for an appointment for someone to fix my hair. I patiently waited and had the nicest stylist fix my haircut and told me to come back in two days to fix the toner and root tap( which I was charged at my first appointment for but was done incorrectly) I am thankful they were able to fix my hair, but was still unhappy with my experience .my appointment was @9am and i didn’t leave until 1:45pm . I didn’t like that somebody right next to me was getting a Brazilian blowout, and all the chemicals was burning my eyes, and making it hard for me to breathe .I would never go back. I did want my hair to be slightly lighter than it turned out, but the hairstylist explained to me reasoning behind her not being able to brighten it more without damaging it.. or just overall doing it in one sitting.. Which is perfectly fine. I’d rather have it healthy. It’s definitely refreshed and healthy now! Upon entering, I was greeted with warm smiles by such lovely ladies. The salon is spacious, and filled with the most wonderful stylist I’ve seen in any salon, literally everyone working was happy, well dressed, engaged with their clients and just had good energy. The vibe at Etch is so chill, it’s definitely a unique experience, and you can tell it’s drama free. I love the music that played as I sat in my chair for 5 hours having my stylist Marco preform magic to my lovely hair. He did an amazing job with cut and color. I love how helpful the other stylists were with one another. Overall I had an amazing experience at Etch, and I truly wont consider going anywhere else. My hair looks so good, exactly the way I wished it to be. Ask for Marco, you really won’t be disappointed.
