The rooms are dim and the essential oil diffuser, the calming wave music, and the bamboo decor adds to the overall spa experience! I highly recommend the Rejuvenate and the Glow facials. They both include massages which is my favorite to pair with facials! You will absolutely love your skin after your appointment. Can’t guarantee you won’t fall asleep. You don’t need to park in front of the building. (Those spots are usually taken or can be dangerous when pulling out based on where they are and the constant construction in that area). The facials we got were very relaxing! My sisters did the microcurrent while I had the custom facial. I wish their steam room was larger and didn’t have an odd smell when the steam was off. Also, the robes are thick which isn’t meant to be worn in steam room and sauna. It had a slight smell too. Other than that, relaxing time!! There is a sauna (dry and wet), a shower room for men and women, a meditation room and a sitting room. This is coed so expect men and women in towels relaxing. I highly reccomend the Onsen service. It’s wonderful for couples too! The samurai massage is great as well. We spoke about our existential crisis, he gave me tips and tricks for home stretches and I’m so grateful I got the chance to visit. The spa and attendants were welcoming and intentional. The “snacks” were almonds and candies ginger which was different but the ginger was delicious! Street parking I could see being a potential hiccup but I came on a Monday afternoon so was able to find a spot easily. Will be back! We made reservations ahead of time and they were ready for us.Kura Door specializes in taking you into a relaxed element. The bathroom was clean, tidy. They have one shower and one bathroom to use, several lockers. You shouldn’t expect a crowd so the limited stalls didn’t bother me.The waiting room has a quiet room to wait in, or they offer a sauna you may use while you wait. (I recommend the sauna). In addition they offer refreshments while you wait, darling treats I’d recommend.We favored our massage compared to going to the Grand America. The massage table is a lot more comfortable than the Grand America. I recommend warming the table at its highest. The price was reasonable as well, again less than The Grand America. I am comparing due to us always booking at the hotel. We will on occasion pre-book here now.I would disregard sour-patches that leave sour reviews for Kura Door. Brandon Johnson16:23 07/29/23I have been coming to this spa for massages one and off for a few years now. I have always had a pretty good experience however today was not that case. I had set an online appointment before they opened which showed in their website and schedule to be available. I recieved confirmation that I would be texted to confirm, well 45 minutes after they opened I had still not gotten a confirmation so I went in at the time I scheduled which was 1015, I was told by the masseuse at the computer desk that my appointment was not confirmed, I then said you guys open at 9 it is now 10 a.m. why was I not updated with confirmation if my appointment was accepted or not. I was told we must have been busy. And basically that since it was not cinfirmed then I should have known. They offered to schedule me for 4 p.m tonight which does not work. I left and as I was walking out the door I then recieved the text saying my appointment request was not accepted. Each time I come I spend well over 120 dollars plus tip for one massage and I do it gladly, this lack of care from the staff or even acknowledgeing the frustration makes it to where I have to consider coming back again. The price was $95 for an hour.Other pros: they got me in on a Sunday.The facility is very clean.They have optional spa upgrades (see photos).Cons: They have this required form where you have to fill out medical information. I don’t like providing my medical information and it wasn’t necessary for this type of appointment.The booking process could be simpler but it’s not a make or break.Overall, I had a nice time and look forward to booking with Donna May in the future. Like perfect. Great massage pressure, I usually like lighter pressure, but I could tell she could do more if I wanted. The setup in the spa is clean and relaxing. Fireplace and all. The one piece of feedback I would give- keeping in mind that I came in on a huge snowstorm day, when people were probably getting started later- the temperature it was a little chilly at first. Not too bad, but by the time the massage got started it felt nice and warm in the room.
