I left a bad review a while ago. Andrew (the manager) came to me personally and amended the situation thus far. I still have yet to talk to the bar about the review but I am satisfied with the way they've dealt with this and I have always loved this bar. Me and a few people I know have only a few places to feel comfortable after workAs of June 1st 2023 I have come to them as a a comfort zone on this side of Franklin st.I have talked to Kayla and there's no bad blood. Definitely good ownership and managementWorth visiting if you want a non college kid vibe on that side of Franklin

The Blue Horn Lounge, if y'all are walkin' down Franklin St. don't blink. You might miss it. This little waterin' hole in the wall is a great place to bring your friends to quench your thirst. A great selection of the spirits. Unfortunately they only have bottled and canned beer and seltzer. The Bar Tender was friendly and is a pleasure to to have as a tender. Nonetheless it is one establishment I will definitely return and drink.Cheers y'all!🍻🥃

Looking in from the sidewalk, this bar reminded me of several bars in NYC and that's when we realized we needed to stop in for drinks after our show.Unfortunately, when we returned the bar was quite full and very much focused on the UNC basketball game, so we pulled up to the stools along the window and ordered our drinks. Although room is tight, it was a comfortable and friendly environment, they even had an extensive selection of games, to include many board games. The bartender was an absolute sweetheart and didn't skip a beat. We finally saw a vacancy at the bar continued drinks from there. This great little neighborhood bar makes it easy to sit and meet new people, play a few games and enjoy a few drinks, what more could you ask for?Cheers!

During an overnight visit to CH (back in May) while planning a move from Austin, TX, I found this awesome spot while perusing Franklin. Stopped in and felt immediately at home. Great staff, great people, perfect atmosphere. Austin has some amazing bars, but the Blue Horn made me feel like I am not going to miss them as much as I thought. Andrew was bartending and he was "breaking in" some new talent, Angelica. Good luck Angelica, hope you made the cut.

An amazing experience on so many levels. Best dive in chapel hill. Upon walking in, this bar feels like “home”. And Zane made us feel like family. Zane went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and appreciated to be there. The selection is amazing and his recommendations were on point. In fact, I wish I lived here just so I could be a regular. I have traveled extensively and consistently and it’s rare to find a place that just *feels* so right, but this is the place, and Zane is one of the best bartenders I’ve come across in my past 10 years of traveling seeking a genuine “dive”. He not only was my bartender, I literally can now call him a friend because of the exceptional, friendly service. Would visit chapel hill again just to come back here.

One of Chapel Hills best kept secrets.Great bar, staff and location!

Elliott George22:56 07/15/23
This is a good location and the staff is friendly, but the food was disappointing, especially because of how positive so many reviews are. The BBQ didn’t have much flavor and came with a sweet sauce that tasted packaged (not NC style for those who want that). The sides were very so-so without much flavor. For 17 dollars per plate, I was very disappointed. I wouldn’t go back. This is an order at the counter place. The bartender is very kind— drinks are mediocre.

Paul Baxter23:56 08/16/22
I've really enjoyed the folks here. Very friendly atmosphere, great drinks and food, very cozy every time I come. However, I ran into an issue on my last visit. The bartender very apologetically told me that she accidentally charged me for someone else's drinks in addition to mine. Said she would issue a refund and handed me a receipt. I thought it would be no big deal.Ten days go by and I haven't seen the refund yet, so I stopped by to ask. The bartender on duty takes down my name and number and says the owner will get back to me ASAP. That was a week ago and I haven't heard anything nor have I gotten that refund.. I know everyone makes mistakes, but I would have hoped they would make an attempt to fix it.

A great neighborhood hangout. Staff is helpful & friendly. Food is amazing. Great people watching spot. They have a small parking lot in front of the bar/restaurant. There is also a fairly large public paid parking lot behind their place - Ck aerial view of Google maps.

Javier Sanchez22:51 09/25/21
Amazing chicken nachos worth a try. Beer? They got plenty but noticed most people orders PBR. Chill small dive bar where local older folks hang out til 7pm and when the clock strikes at 8pm the young ones comes pouring in. Definitely worth checking out to chill or hang out or just a night cap.

Got some veggie tacos that were absolutely amazing, it was light, flavorful, and for a great price! Being a vegan the nightlife can pose some challenges as to finding something decently healthy to eat. But not anymore!

Had the chicken tacos and it was really good. Loved the salsa sauce and them perfectly sliced limes! >.

This place is LIIIIIT!! Being gluten free and vegetarian makes it super hard for me to eat anywhere. I spoke to the kitchen manager and he hooked it up sooooo good for me!!! I wasn’t even that hungry and scarfed down 4 tacos!!!! 🤤 the bartenders are sooo awesome also!!! They are so nice and also super cute 😍 The energy at this bar is amazing!!! Super cool, underground aesthetic. The owners are super personable and friendly and absolutely want you to have the best experience here! Sooo basically Great food, great atmosphere, great people = YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME HERE 😛

Israel Angleles01:03 06/07/20
Down Time chapel Hill bar is so tight! The bartenders are super chill, the place is off the hook. The best place to hang out with friends and drink and have some fun. They just added this new kitchen where they served some of the BEST TACOS I ever taste. They also have some other delicious foods, that just make your mouth melt. They also do picks up! The only downside is that it isnt open 24/7.

Thomas Cooper01:55 03/24/20

Great atmosphere, friendly people, and a bit of a time travel back to great times. A must visit.

Steven Jones04:05 03/21/23
What a great place to be. Very friendly staff and customers. A place that welcomes all.

Tanner Hock23:10 01/30/23
I’d really love to embrace this place but a couple obstacles make that a challenge: namely, the performative liberal vaccine requirement and the smoker-dominated back porch. The former is illogical and outdated while the latter is a matter of personal freedom (which I understand and embrace) but I’m not a smoker and it ruins what would otherwise be an awesome place to drink/hang.

Alex Tate17:04 01/12/23
It's an institution! My go to spot in Carrboro. Staff is fantastic, they've got a decent selection of NA options. Atmosphere is always great

Lauren Hampson02:18 09/08/22
I paid for 2 memberships when I first moved here and the bartender was really laid back and cool. Since then, there has almost always been a weird, exclusive, cliquey, performatively liberal vibe. The vaccine card requirement at this point is blatant discrimination. I’m pro-vaccine but without a card they won’t serve you and will kick you out. Tonight was the last straw when we walked in and the bartender told us dogs weren’t allowed after 9 due to past issues. If there were issues with a dog, that dog should be banned. And dogs can have issues at 5, 6, 7, or 8 so this is a very weird rule. Do they make people with dogs leave at 9 if they came at 7? Ultimately, we don’t feel welcome when we come here and the policing and rules are ridiculous.

Usually love the brunches they do on mother’s and Father’s Day. This year the brunch on Mother’s Day was subpar. No omelette station, the brisket was over cooked and inedible. The food was not what we have come to expect here. Not sure if they are cutting corners or there’s a new chef but it was not great. The service was horrible as well. Constantly having to remind our waitress about drinks to get them served. All around not a great experience this year.

Ronald Carnes03:49 03/27/23
This invitation to the Carolina Club was one of a few remarkable events that took place for me this weekend. The Dinner was planned as a meet and greet for a group of philosophers and new nominee's in preparation for aSymposium for the Humanities. The dinner was a great five course meal, in a fantastic mirrored setting. The waite staff were excellent. Cordial, helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. The banquet went off without a hitch and multiple compliments to the chef, house, and staff. Thank you!

Tina White00:11 10/02/22
Always a gem for game day. Great fun for the kids and family with food and festivities, raffle and games. Don't miss Rameses, RJ and the ram himself, dance team, cheerleaders and pep band. Face painting is a kid favorite. All raffle proceeds benefit the children's hospital so what's not to love here? That's right, nothing!

Michael McPherson17:16 02/13/22
First class from start to finish. Took my mom and the family for brunch. From the moment you're greeted, to the moment you leave, you're treated to great Tarheel hospitality. If you get the chance to go, hope you enjoy as much as we did. 👍🏾

Earl Hadden22:32 03/24/19
Very friendly members, especially the business builders group. An excellent value for a place to meet for a drink or to host an event for a few hundred of your closest friends (I did one for about 100 people not too long ago). The staff is friendly and well trained (many of them students).
