Service was slow but pleasant. Hygiene of the cooks and servers are questionable and needs to be addressed. We where seated in front of the kitchen at the second floor and cpuldnt help but see how they operate. Food was average at best.

Cafe Mezzanine in Binondo, Manila needs some improvement. The taste of food is okay, overall experience is not great, the lack of attention to details of the cashier and server was below the standard. The servers lack of attention to details is very disappointing. They are not approachable. Restroom was so dirty. Even if I really needed to pee, I decided not to. The smell is awful and disgusting.I was also very disappointed to the unavailability of coffee. I dont understand, they call their shop a cafe but they dont serve coffee that day (July 3, 2023), ordered xiao long bao and hakaw but also unavailable. My partner and I visited this place because it was recommended and must try daw the Beef La Mien but it was not in the menu. I dont know if they dont sell that anymore.Lastly, when I ordered coffee and it was not available I decided to just order avocado smoothie, but when I ask for the bill, they still charge me for the coffee when it was not available in the beginning. If I did not check the receipt they could have profit over that. Ask for a new receipt but was not provided urgently. It was given to me after 10 minutes. I don't know what's the reason for the wait. I would say that I will never dine here again with this kind of service. They need to improve if they want customers to come back.PS. Pork siomai was still served cold. I did not mind them getting me a new one, it is possible kasi na it may take a while for them to provide. Lava Pao tastes confusing.

Mikee Zantua04:29 06/28/23
Cafe Mezzanine in Binondo, Manila has a some areas for improvement. While the food taste is okay, the overall experience seems to be impacted by the servers' attitude and the noisy kitchen. The servers' lack of enthusiasm towards serving customers like us is certainly disappointing, as it can significantly affect our dining experience. Customers expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere when they visit a cafe or restaurant, and the servers play a crucial role in creating that environment. Moreover, the noisy kitchen with plates, metals, and utensils clanging is quite distracting and unpleasant for customers. It is important to maintain a certain level of ambiance, especially in a cafe, where people typically come to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal.Lastly, another area of concern is thewaiting time, which took about 40 minutes. While it's not uncommon for some cafes and restaurants to have a waiting time during busy hours, it's important to manage it effectively to ensure customer satisfaction.PS. Seafood Chami is too salty.

Danielle Dulay18:39 06/09/23
While the food at this restaurant is undoubtedly delicious, be prepared to wait longer than expected for your meal. The wait time can be quite significant, often exceeding the amount of time it takes to consume the food itself. However, if you have some extra time to spare and are looking for a great dining experience, the quality of the food is definitely worth the wait.

Lovely place to eat. We ordered the Custard lava buns. Place had AC, and great drinks. It was very popular and recommended. I would go again.Only annoying thing was the service. The team were stretched.

Robert Valentin Cojuangco10:15 06/04/23
Food was good. Prices were reasonable. Service as expected nothing spectacular. Value for money average.

cheeny A05:29 12/07/22
It was nice to discover this place recently. The ambience was very cool, food also taste really well. We got the braised beef noodles- this was so flavorful, beef was so tender and the serving size was really generous! lava pao and dumplings also taste good.Make sure to arrive as early as possible as the queue gets long especially during weekends.

Lunar Verse08:41 12/02/22
CNN Travel has highlighted this restaurant as one of its featured restaurants when in Manila. It is situated in the original Chinatown, alongside Eng Bee Tin. The area itself is simultaneously quite lively and charming. There is a bit of waiting time for your food since the place is always almost full. Both regular customers and inquisitive tourists were crammed into the establishment. Great portions at an affordable price. I really enjoyed the Congee, Asado, Braised Beef and the Chicken Feet! The tasty cuisine made up for the eating area's limited size and unorganized atmosphere. Highly suggested. Finding a parking spot, though, might be a challenge.

Cafe Mezzanine is almost always on the lists of must-try restaurants in Binondo, and I can see why. The place is somehow riotous but colorful. If you’re not into busy food places, then don’t go here. The staff members are friendly and attentive. Just be ready to wait since the cafe is usually packed with customers. We waited for about 20 minutes outside, and another 20 minutes to get served.Cafe Mezzanine is owned by the same person who manages Chuan Kee, the restaurant located below them. They have similar menus; the only difference is that the cafe serves coffee. Chuan Kee normally has longer queues.I also like that they share their profits with a specific group of firemen in Manila.Recommended dishes: Chicken Chinot and Asado with Adobo EggThe cafe only accepts cash payments.

Emz Blas02:07 10/26/22
Their service is quite fast and their serving is good for sharing. We liked the ambiance of the restaurant and we loved the food. Their xiao long bao can do a little better - the wrapper is quite thick. Their must try dish is the special kikiam and the pork dumplings 👌

Jowee Estefan Gabiano08:55 08/21/22
We’re lucky enough to be seated upon our arrival. The place gives an exclusive feel, maybe because it’s located upstairs. Food was delicious! I can’t simply single out one option since I liked everything we ordered. It was my first time trying the pork machang (it’s like paella with braised pork) which was surprisingly good! It ate it as my dessert after the mains, cause it tastes like it. Another thing I cannot forget about is their Lava Pao! It was so good I regret I did not order one for take out. However, their frappes were not that good according to my companion. Too sweet and tastes like overly sugarized.Other than that, it was really a good dining experience in Manila Chinatown!

Love the atmosphere it feels homey. The food we ordered like the coffee ribs and bird's nest are definitely an acquired taste but I love their sate beef noodles. They also have toilet for those wondering

this cafe is the right place if you want the great food and fine ambiance

Elaine De Los Santos19:39 03/24/23
One of the best meals I had while in Binondo. My orders were simple — shrimp fried rice and salted egg pork spare ribs. They did not scrimp on the shrimp such that the rice still had shrimp up to the last bite. They deboned the spare ribs, so I was able to eat the entire dish (no messy munching on the bone). The salted egg sauce was buttery and had the right saltiness. The service was fast (maybe because it was already way past lunch time) and the servers were attentive.

Randy Lopez08:51 01/17/23
Always a good time whenever we visit. The owner, a charming, old lady is so friendly and quick to chat. Our go to place for Lo Han Chay (Stir Fried Vegetables in Oyster Sauce)As with all Binondo food stops, street level parking on a first come first served basis.

Great value food. Quality is great compared to other places in the area. Awi's rice is my favourite on the menu. They make great shakes too!

TOP TIERBest bang for your buck especially for the working class in Binondo. While some food are available only on certain days, you are guaranteed to enjoy whatever is offered on that day. They are well known for their big servings and cheap price. Their single order of sisig for Php75 is well known to make two people full. The only bad side I can say about them is that they suffer from their success. Because so many people eat at their restaurant, lines are often long during lunch time and their dining area can get crowded so I recommend going for takeout. In summaryPros-Good food-Good price and good value.-Fast service-Big serviceCons-Food is too good and the line becomes long because everyone goes here.

Affordable authentic Chinese food. But nothing special. It's good for its price. Not something that I would spend hours to wait in line.Service were fast as well.

Lee Buenaflor-Erpelo05:47 07/02/23
**will update experience later pag nakakain na kami... haba pila eh 😅**Update: So... we waited 2hrs to be seated (It's Saturday at 12:30pm). Not sure why we waited that long 😅 (tinamad na maghanap or maybe because we were intrigued by the popularity -- why the loooong line of diners all willing to wait). The food is good, but I can't say great because the time we were seated, we were too hungry that anything served tasted delicious! 😆 The dishes I'll probably reorder are the dumplings and fish fillet in white sauce. The xiao long bao though is a disappointment. It was under-steamed. The place is not air conditioned so it was a less enjoyable dining experience. The food are not that cheap, priced almost the same as air-conditioned restos. Maybe next time, I'll just order thru grab/food panda from them.

Our go-to dimsum place is Binondo. Fast service. Our faves are Beancurd Roll, Spareribs in Tausi, Cold Milktea, Siomai. They also have Roasted and Asado Pork / Duck

Joanne Angeles02:11 04/30/23
Super loved the food! Everything was delicious - hot prawn salad, the dumplings, fried rices, veggies, etc. Pretty cheap too. We just ordered too much but it was all worth it!

Elaine De Los Santos00:13 04/30/23
A must-visit in any Binondo food trip. There’s a reason why this place gets crowded during weekends and meal times (yes, long waiting lines!). First time to try their oyster omelette and it was everything I hoped for — crispy edges, glutinous filling, and fresh ingredients. I also ordered buchi and spring roll — both delicious and addictive. The iced coffee was creamy and sweet — good way to cut the savouriness and greasiness of the food. Service was fast, and the staff gave good food suggestions and served with a smile.

Rohan Muralee06:53 04/01/23
Good place for dim sum in Binondo, with a big menu of reasonably priced dishes. Be prepared to wait though especially at busy times at the weekends - had to queue for an hour as it's very popular, but was worth the wait. Service was fast and friendly too.

Yair Palti04:58 01/25/23
Authentic place!Really great food. The best was the shrimps dumpling. But all other dishes were good. The service was great and the menu was well explained by the waiters. The tea was perfect with the food.Recommend!Hopefully, we can visit again once in Philippines.

Anna Krzak21:42 12/18/22
Fantastic dim sum. There are always a line of people waiting for their takeaway food 🥘 At around 10 am there was still a place to sit at second floor, but at 10.50 all the tables were already taken. Lunch time has started this early. There is huge variety of the dishes to choose from but the dim sum is obvious choice.

Jasper Tan12:06 11/01/22
The food is definitely good and affordable. We ordered the salted fish fried rice, lemon chicken, ham soy kok and roast duck mami, which were all good. Our bill totalled to 990 pesos only. Parking is a challenge especially on a regular day and the floor is slippery.

cecile faustino09:56 05/10/22
Food - all the food we ordered are sumptuous and delicious except for the lechon macau which is quite overcooked and hard to bite. We requested for replacement but they rejected our request.Service - I would have been totally impressed if not for the rejection of our request.Ambiance - no AC. Small place though its already 2 storey restsurant.Overall I would come back to order their other food. They have a lot of offerings and seems delicious to look at.

Jason Chu04:58 07/29/23
Remarkably and unexpectedly authentic and tasty. Great service and order arrived promptly. Generous portions and great value. A few of the items we wanted to order weren’t on the menu though.

Jai Otamias05:16 07/11/23
Sorry to say this but The Great Buddha Cafe is only great because of their ambience. While their noodle soup is okay, their lemon chicken took 45 minutes to serve and it tasted like it was reheated from a microwave. The portions were indeed too small, as said by the other reviews here. The staff were also arrogant when we asked for a follow-up on the lemon chicken and didn't seem to know what they were doing, and gave us the wrong bill at the end. It was a bad experience and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone trying to food-crawl in Binondo. We only tried this place for the experience but never again.

Jan Emille “Emil” Tena13:15 07/03/23
I was very disappointed with my visit to the Great Buddha Cafe. The place was crowded and noisy, and I had to wait in a long line to be seated and served. The food was overrated and bland, and the portions were small. The staff was rude and incompetent, and they gave me the wrong food order twice. The experience was not worth the hype or the price. I would not recommend this place to anyone who values quality and service. The Great Buddha Cafe is a waste of time and money.

Dickies Baguio10:36 05/31/23
I agree with previous clients, staff are busy bantering about their mundane existence, within hearing distance, while we dined. Food is served very slow, one at a time, no plate is served, we had to ask for it. Other clients had to wait for some time for their bills, while most staff seem not to care. Ambience is fine, staff members require TRAINING, or better yet, replace them all.

allan khoo19:01 04/30/23
The Great Buddha Cafe in Binondo is spacious and has an interesting design with a statue of a sitting Buddha and lotus-shaped ceiling lamps. There’s also a little souvenir shop that displays local handicrafts. We enjoyed the food here and the service staff are attentive and friendly too.

jasca p15:16 04/06/23
This is one of the restaurants we checked out in our binondo food crawl. The ambiance is very nice, they have proper airconditioning and the beef noodle soup that we order is good. What I think they need to improve is their customer service, I don't think if they are short on staff that's why they couldn't cater quickly to the demands of the customers. Though you could see that their servers are trying their best to accommodate everyone's request. Still it's a nice experience and they have souvenirs that you could also check out.

Carla Bautista08:39 02/18/23
Food is good, some items we ordered were a little salty to my liking but still tasted good. Staffs are accommodating and would advise you if the prep time for your order will take a long time. We arrived before 12noon on a saturday and luckily we were first on the waiting list. After we came a long waiting line could already be seen as it was already lunch time. Over all food is great and the price is reasonable.

Patrick Trinidad12:43 11/12/22
The only thing that saved this place from a 2-star rating is the ambience. Very Hong Kong or Beijing feels. But the food was too flat tasting and the service took forever! If ever I would come back here it would be just because of the beautiful Chinese Opera characters ref magnets! And that will be the only driving force for me.

Albert Issa12:46 07/24/22
The staff are VERY inattentive. The service is BEYOND bad. The food takes a while to come out (not the place to come if your hungry)The food: very average. Maybe even below average. Warm. probably because the staff can't get it to your table quickly enough. The restaurant was half empty so no idea why it takes them so long and they let the food sit there)The tables and chairs are designed poorly. You cannot rest your back or your legs whatsoever. It makes it uncomfortable, especially because you'll be waiting a while for the food to arrive.

Logan Chiam06:18 05/20/22
Spacious Opulent Restaurant With Affordable And Yummy Dimsum! Probably one of the few restaurant in Ong Pin/Binondo with nice interior which is refreshing to see in contrast to the hole in the wall eateries around. The high ceiling and purple-centric design is elegant and blends well with Eng Bee Tin’s signature color. The dimsum is superb! Make sure to order the pan fried dumplings! Service is a bit slow so be patient although we went in straight around lunch time on a Saturday, a long queue was already forming when we finished devouring our dimsum. This is a must try when you are in Ong Pin!

Daneyyy14:11 05/08/22
The ambiance is nice and the place is neat. I enjoyed their food, but the service was too slow. Probably because they lack manpower. We waited for about an hour to be seated then after we ordered, the food came like after 40mins and the order weren't even fully served. So it took quite a few minutes more before they've completed our order.

Real Customer Reviews at Chuan Kee Chinese Fast Food:

LGee04:40 07/22/23
Do not believe the vloggers, They were given freebies.Food is meh… all hype. We ordered xiao long bao but told it’s not available. Service sucks, the table turn-over was fast but nobody was efficiently managing the in/out of people. It takes about 15mins to Buzz the table, when it could have been used by the new customers. We lined up at 10:10am and was seated at 11:00am.

RXCORE DX06:14 07/01/23
Always packed with people, it is always better for me to take out foods from here. Ordered 4 orders of Lechon paksiw. Quick and easy payment. Will definitely enjoy my orders from home. 😁

yka feng10:37 06/03/23
We've waited more than an hour for available seat.We ordered beef wonton, xiao long bao, kikiam and hakaw.Xiao long bao is always best.Beef wonton noodles has generous serving.Kikiam is super nice.Hakaw is only 4 pcs but huge.Service crew can be busy but still accommodatingServing time of food is just normal and expected to be bit busy due to number of customers going. All in: this is typical chinese fast food with good food at it's price. In case you are starving, i suggest you go to different restaurants available around or even small chinese eatery which has same or lower price but same quality of food since quan kee is too famous and customers arr always jumpack.

Christine Castro-Pangilinan15:34 04/25/23
One of the best and oldest resto in ongpin. When we arrived there were three or four groups ahead of us waiting to be seated. We waited for our turn but then the waitress said that we can go to the cafe above ( cafe mezzanine) and order food from the menu of chuan kee since the owners are the same. We ordered kamto soup, family-sized stir-fried canton, family lechon macao and 3 dimsums (xiao long bao and shrimp hakaw). Everything was great! I especially liked the cucumber chicken xiao long bao. The taste is refreshing and unique because of the cucumber. We wanted to try other meals but we’re so full that We ended up taking out our left overs and was able to share it to a street vendor (that grateful smile in kuya’s lips was the highlight😊).

Elaine De Los Santos12:06 03/23/23
The hype and taste are not worth the long wait. Seriously, the xiao long bao was too doughy and soggy (perfect bad combination!). A lot of items on its menu were not available — including their famous golden lava buchi. They served the most underwhelming lechon kawali that I have ever tasted. The only saving grace was their black gulaman, which was served very late. The staff were very nimble and alert. You cannot get mad at them because you can see they are doing their best to accommodate all customers.

Daryl Joe Santos15:31 01/04/23
The waiting line was quite long when we came (around 5 pm), so we waited for ~20 mins before we were seated. We ordered good portions of food to feed 5 people. The food started to come ~10 mins later. Overall, the food is great; most of their dishes are good to try. I recommend the avocado shake when it's available.

Engr. John Dizon15:04 09/18/22
The taste and price of each food we ordered were good. There might be long queues for customers due to popular demand. The price was somewhere in between not that low and not that high. Serving is good also.

Booie M16:28 08/15/22
I've always been curious to try this place given that most of the time I've dropped by, the queue to get in was almost around the block. Finally, I got a chance to try it.At first glance, I didn't think too highly of the menu choices. Seemed regular stuff. In any event, maybe they did make these relatively "normal" dishes in a really good wayDing ding ding! I really was pleased with the flavors of everything I ordered. Now I know why there's such a huge queue to eat at this place.Oh, if you're expecting "fastfood" prices as they brand themselves as one - you'll be in for a surprise. They are pricier than your average fast food. Still worth coming here despite the long waiting lines.

Tam Nguyen22:55 06/16/22
The food was so so, not fresh, most of them are frozen food then been heated/steamed/fried when there's an order for it.-The lava cake was halfway fried with one cake was already dented( not sure if it was from previous table...)-The springs rolls was fried in a hurry so that they're not much crunchy and taste not good inside.-The black chicken soup was just a little with one thigh of chicken, quite disappointedThe food quality really needs to be improved, still wonder abt its crowd. Me and my frds all agree not to go again.

cecile faustino11:55 05/03/22
Food - we ordered xiao long bao which is dry and the wrapper is not soft; tsinoy chicken which is just like the Chowking oriental chicken; hakaw tastes bland; lechon kawali is just so so; beef noodles tastes ok.Ambiance - we waited in line for almost one hour. There is no AC only fan which is expected of a street food set up. Social distancing is observed.Service - crew are quick and attentive to our requests.Price - affordable

It's not just the food that attracts people to a restaurant, it is more. The food was tasty, well prepared though the portions were small. The staff were nice and helpful. The price is affordable and the location is passable. The ambience is almost non-existent, the view from all the windows in the restaurant leave much to be desired of.

We came across this branch when we were buying Tikoy and gifts for the incoming Chinese New Year.We dined past 12nn and ordered their Breakfast Deluxe and Classic Grilled Ham & Melted Cheese.Food: The taste is really great. Their ham is thick and the croissant is very crunchy.Customer Service: The cashier and service crew are the same person. The service is a bit slow due to their lack of manpower but it is acceptable since it's pandemic.

Best place to eat especially at breakfast. Opens early around 7am. Cozy and quiet. Located at Ongpin, infront of Shoppers Mart.

Second visit. Nice place for enjoying cake and coffee. Will most likely be back for more.
