The 'Hattie' vegan bagel was very tasty with vegetables & pine nuts. I don't usually like eggplant but I loved this. Nice friendly staff here too.

Nat R13:08 05/30/23
The James veggie was nice but the Pippa? What a treat 😋😋😋 and these wonderful ladies can make any bagel gluten-free, which makes me SO delighted! The coffee / mocha is lovely too. Have come twice today already.

Lovely place, warm and stylish ambience, personnel very kind and food really good. The service is quick and the prices are good. The menu is friendly for all dietary restrictions and it's LGBTQ+ friendly. I can't wait to be back.

Excellent! We ordered a Richard and Elliot and they were delicious!!! We even ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and it was great!! Here are some pictures of the hot chocolate (Dark chocolate) and a Mimosa. Staff were kind and helpful

I loved this place. The coffee was good, and the bagel was a hefty breakfast. I felt like the price was fair for how much food I got. Service was very friendly. If I had one of these shops near me I’d probably eat there once a week 😂

Liked it so much we went back! Nice staff, good coffee, takeaway available. We really liked the Parisian waffle. The interior is cute and the shop has wifi.

Coffee was lovely, they do charge extra for milk alternative, but at least they offer one!Very cosy atmosphere, great for planning your day exploring. We only had the vegan waffles for food so I can only rate them, unfortunately I cannot recommend, they were not to our taste at all.We had vegan waffles in Brussels which were amazing, but these waffles were not enjoyable.Would go again for coffee and to relax.

Amazing brunch located a bit farther away from the city center - perfect for a delicious meal away from the crowds. The service was perfection and the Blackbird brunch option an amazing deal for its pricepoint ! Filled us up more than we expected !Beware that booking is a must on week ends and that they don't offer bagels for brunch on week ends sadly

A great place to have lunch. Personell was really friendly and helpful. The food was great and service was fast. Both outside and inside seating is available and the atmosphere is great.

Delightful find in the middle of Bruges, enjoyed so much we returned for a second day. Set in a beautiful square, the front of the building hides an exceptional window looking out onto a courtyard garden. A simple breakfast of pastries and coffee set us up for exploring.

Rachel Munn19:07 07/08/23
Best coffee in Brugges! Delicious healthy breakfast options and the pastries are yum too ;)It became our 'local' while we were staying in Brugges, especially useful that it opens earlier than other places.

Eugenia Mozgova19:57 05/19/23
+Helpful staff and very beautiful space with plenty of seats inside and outside, sunny courtyard.Good crispy sourdough bread for toasts, and amazing evoo.-vegan flatwhite was stratified into coffee with weird flakes, even though I chose the most cowmilk like vegan alternative - soy alpro.Avocado toast is extremely plain.Vegan sweet treats were sold out by 16.00, the only one was chia muffin left- nothing to die for(The plate for dessert was not clean and crackedOverall bill for toast, yogurt, cappuccino, flat white vegan and muffin was 41 euros

Mark Hanna22:11 03/26/23
Better than the branches in London. Just a fact. The sandwiches were made to order and the ingredients were singing.I was happy to wait 10 minutes for them to be made as the interior is beautifully done and the movement of the kitchen had my attention for the most part.Just a very good sandwich to go off, but it has to be five stars. At my own peril, I think I'll give them another chance in London.

A bit off the beaten track but we'll worth searching out. If you're a book worm then you've landed in paradise (English language books are up on the mezzanine level). Outdoor seating also available but difficult to get a table as it's where most people head to. Very visually appealing decor with wall to wall bookshelves. At the end of the meal I asked for a glass of tap water but was decline and it seemed to cause the waitress offence. Guess its not customary to do so in Belgium. Other than that please enjoy your visit to books and brunch its well worth it.

Jackie Taylor18:24 05/20/23
just gorgeous little place!most fabulous breakfast and brunch, lots of choice, lots of books.I had a delicious waffle which did not disappoint, and the butter beer was served with a Belgium published harry potter book which was just a magical touch. would definitely book in advance, very busy. lovely clean facilities and very friendly, great value too. well done

Ashley Bernal20:48 03/15/23
This is a great spot for any breakfast lover. Whether you’re looking for sweet or savory, they have it! A variety of options for individuals with celiac/coeliac restrictions, and great for vegetarians and vegans too!I ordered the gluten free pancakes with maple syrup, bananas, and bacon. The pancakes were more like crepes, but still delicious! Others in my party ordered the Belgian waffles, which they said were out of this world, and a gluten free omelette sandwich with herbs, cheese, and ham (which was probably the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had).Books & Brunch also offers an assortment of cocktails, mocktails, and coffee, making this this perfect spot to start your day. I will definitely be coming back.

C Krueger21:01 03/10/23
Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. We came at 12:00 and easily found a seat, service was very quick and efficient (you tick off on the menu what you want) and the food was stellar! We also ordered Bellini's and they were the perfect start to the holiday!

Claudia Rubina S Franco10:05 02/20/23
Charming concept and lovely food. If you are a book lover this is a great place for some food. I had the waffles with fruit but all the food I saw being served around me did look really good. Great service as well and fresh ingredients. Loved it.

We had an absolutely delightful experience at this breakfast and brunch restaurant! From the moment I stepped in, the aroma of freshly made waffles filled the air, making my mouth water in anticipation. The waffles were perfection - golden and crispy on the outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside. Topped with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream, each bite was pure bliss. The friendly and attentive staff added to the overall wonderful atmosphere, making it a memorable visit. We can't wait to return and indulge in more of their delicious waffle creations! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a scrumptious breakfast or brunch experience.

Carlos B.11:37 05/30/23
Great place to have a breakfast waffle and coffee. Service is amazing and very friendly, my go to choice when in Bruges. Not sure why they stick to beans from Costa Coffee, but it's alright, would rather have something less mainstream though, it's my only criticism. Would highly recommend their waffle and home made strawberry jam and eggs on avocado toast. Their home made smoothies are really generous and super tasty as well.

Diana Baciu16:30 05/21/23
Overall the breakfast was ok, but nothing stood out, maybe only the plating. We had avocado toast with tomatoes, and with smoked salmon. The food was tasty, but I would not recommend the coffee - just average coffee, it did not taste too good. The service was ok, no more that what was expected. Overall an average experience, nothing memorable.

Rhoda Schnitzer08:14 05/20/23
Stopped here for a cafe and waffles since we wanted to find a place away from the bustling inner city. Lovely service, delicious waffles and great coffee. Our dog even got water in a very fancy ceramic bowl.Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area

battnotinclud08:26 03/26/23
Food was very good and served quickly... the whipped cream topping was particularly good: I'm guessing it was made on-site. Friendly staff. They (the wait staff) recommend that you make a reservation. Clocks, small statuary and curios are sold there as well.

Fell upon this place when we were all getting a bit cranky for food. Amazing bakery at the front and a warren of rooms through to the back terrace. Croissants not as good as other places we had been but there was a great selection and everything we ordered was delicious. Coffee was lovely. Definitely worth the visit.

Ben From Perth (Ben from Perth)18:46 06/17/23
It was a cafe in Bruges that friends back home in Australia recommended. I actually enjoyed it, so many flavours, mini pickled onions, gherkins, semi sundries tomato, fennel, cucumber, red onion, leaves, baby chilies, roasted capsicum, avocado and obligatory Dutch mayo on the side. Mine was particularly good as you can see , it had the bacon. The only thing it was too big and I had no room for the special Belgian waffle. The owner was super friendly, adept at German Spanish apart from the usual Dutch and French with customers. My wife had her coffee the way she liked, liquid cream on the side. Ceylon tea was done properly with boiling water added to the leaves before it got to the table..I know right.

Austin Willson11:49 05/31/23
On our first morning in Bruges we really struggled to find a place to eat a proper breakfast, it was on a Tuesday after the bank holiday so most cafes or tearooms opened at 11. We ended up eating a waffle which was simple but very tasty and fresh! So we decided to look for a nice cafe/tearoom for our final morning and we found Carpe Diem! Carpe Diem translates to ‘Seize the day’ and it was a lovely old tearoom with outdoor sitting which had a canopy that could be opened or closed! I had a croque madame with some yoghurt and strawberries and all was delicious! You could tell it was made fresh and with care! Staff were incredibly polite and kind even though we did break a glass..🙃

Kelly J08:26 05/13/23
Good place for lunch or a tea break. Service was not bad. Price was quite reasonable for the area. Cakes and pastries are beautiful.

Lhea Jane Socrates02:45 03/13/23
Can't recommend this place enough! I went here every single day of my stay in Brugge. They have a good selection of food, and a wide variety of waffles and pancakes. Their drinks are great as well. The staff are lovely and very quick to attend you. The interiors make you feel like you are in an old mansion.
